Education advocates are getting ready to apply a little extra pressure to state lawmakers to find a way to avoid cutting school and teacher funding.
Legislators will be meeting in a special session in a few weeks, and education cuts are said to be on the table to help meet a budget deficit of over $400 million.
KUNM's Jim Williams spoke with Albuquerque Teacher's Federation President Ellen Bernstein, who said teachers are worried about the coming cuts.

A coalition of labor organizations and teachers will march to the capitol in Santa Fe from the downtown train depot at noon on October 9th. They're hoping to send a message to state lawmakers to find new revenue sources in order to avoid more cuts to education. |
