“Chicana Tributes: Activist Women Of The Civil Rights Movement”

Montezuma Publishing
Chicana Tributes (Book Cover)

Mon. 10/9, 7p: An interview with Prof. Rita Sánchez, co-editor with Prof. Sonia López of a book paying tribute to  61 legendary and contemporary women activists.  Starting from the cauldron of the civil and ethnic women´s rights movement of the second half of the twentieth century to the present, “Chicana Tributes” illustrates the contributions of Mexican American women to the rights movement. Chicana social and political activism led to many social changes, and this work showcases their  voice, missing from the dominant narrative and even in Chicano literature and history.
