Mon. 9/16 11a: Families enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly the Food Stamp Program, will see some changes this fall. A boost in monthly benefits during the recession is set to expire on November 1st. The US Congress is also considering budget cuts for the SNAP program as lawmakers debate reauthorization of the farm bill.

What might these changes mean for Native families that rely on SNAP to put food on the table? Has your family ever used food assistance? Is healthy, affordable food accessible in your community?

Guests include Caleb Dunlap (Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa), Program Manager for the Chief Seattle Club; Sarah Miracle, Program Manager of the Get Fresh! with the Chickasaw Nation; and Jason Riggs, SNAP Outreach Coordinator for the Roadrunner Food Bank in New Mexico.
