A Handful Of Walnuts For Holiday Cheer

If you're feeling stress over the holidays, you might want to make a change in that bowl of nuts on your dining room table.  By increasing its percentage of walnuts, you can make a big difference in your state of mind.   That's the finding of a recent study by Dr. Peter Pribis, UNM Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics.

According to Dr. Pribis, walnuts are "nutrient-dense, literally loaded with nutrients," and, for men, a half cup every day can significantly boost mood and reduce stress.

Sixty-four students were tested over a 16-week period.  Dr. Pribis goes into greater detail about how he conducted his study in this longer version of the interview.
