For a high school student fascinated with science, the opportunity for hands-on experience in a lab is a treat with far-reaching benefits. A chemistry professor at the University of New Mexico understood this from his experiences growing up in Nepal and he has created a program that invites talented local teenagers into his state-of-the-art UNM lab.
Assistant Professor Ramesh Giri hopes the program will strengthen the students' interest in science, and possibly encourage them to continue on to college, graduate school and careers in science.
