Ghadah: Good evening I am Ghadah Jawad and I will be your calendar host for tonight
Lamonte: And I am Lamonte Cyrus and I will be your other calendar host
Ghadah: Have you heard of the Guanábana Productions
Lamonte: No, tell me more about it
Ghadah: well, they are putting on The First Annual Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival
Lamonte: o cool, when is it gonna be?
Ghadah: well its gonna be on August 23-29
Lamonte: where at?
Ghadah: The Albuquerque Latin Dance Festival will take place in various Albuquerque locations - the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the One Up Elevated Lounge, Hotel Albuquerque, Old Town, the Library Bar and Grill, the University of New Mexico, Double Time Dance Studio and the Salsa Baby venue.
Lamonte: that sounds fun!
Ghadah: Wait there is more, Workshops are being offered during the festival in the National Hispanic Cultural Center
Lamonte: What kind of workshops?
Ghadah: well of course their workshops about Latin dance and their offered for all skill levels
Lamonte: sounds great! What time?
Ghadah: Its Friday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm
Lamonte: where can I find more information about this event

Lamonte: I might have to check this out, it sounds fun. So Ghadah have you heard that America Ferrera is coming in town
Ghadah: No, America Ferrera, who’s is that?
Lamonte: Shes the star of Ugly Betty and she’s coming to town for a screening and Q&A of her new film The Dry Land.
Ghadah: O that’s cool I have heard of her
Lamonte: The National Hispanic Cultural Center , in partnership with the Albuquerque Film Festival and the New Mexico Chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers is putting on the screening
Ghadah: that’s awesome, where the Screening gonna be at?
Lamonte: Its gonna be at the the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Bank of America Film Theatre on Thursday, August 26th at 8:15 pm
Ghadah: nice! What’s the film about?
Lamonte: it’s about a young war veteran, as he returns from Iraq to his life in West Texas. His wife his mother and his friend provide support, but they can’t fully understand the pain and suffering he feels since his tour of duty ended.
Ghadah: no way man. Have you heard about Youth Shelters Commemorating 30 Years of Serving Homeless, Runaway, and In-Crisis Youth?
Lamonte: No, im actually glad to hear that’s happening. Tell me more.
Ghadah: their throwing a 30th anniversary dinner at the governor’s mansion
Lamonte: when is this blessed event happening?
Ghadah: On Friday, August 27th, 5:30p -7:00p. Tickets are available and must be purchased in advance at www.youthshelters.org or by calling 505-983-0586. How cool is that?
Lamonte: Very cool. Have you heard of the event kickoff strong starts for children?
Ghadah: Why no Lamonte I have not what is it?
Lamonte: UNM’s Family Development Program, in Collaboration with Decade of the Child, a statewide early childhood advocacy coalition, and Native American Professional Parent Resources, Inc., are hosting a “Celebration of Wonder”.
Ghadah: a Celebration of wonder. Tell me more homie
Lamonte: well on Saturday August 28th at the old town Gazebo from 10am to 1pm. This innovative family play event for young children and their families will explore how our youngest children see the city
Ghadah: what great event my friend. Early childhood is a very important issue. And I’m glad that they are taking action.

Lamonte: well he’s hosting an art exhibit called “Everyone Shimmers the Space Near” along with Friday night performances. This week will be Ruff Rufff Ruffff: Music and movement to wonder about.
Ghadah: Oh that sounds interesting. Where is it going to be at?
Lamonte: It will be at High Mayhem, 2811 Siler Lane, Santa Fe NM. The emphasis of the artwork is in drawing, sculpture, performance and video, all of which create an intriguing exploration in the simultaneous apprehension of attraction and repulsion.
