Chicago residents want to preserve a newly famous landmark: the rat hole

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep. Chicago residents want to preserve a famous landmark - the rat hole. It's a rat-shaped indentation in a sidewalk on the North Side, which became a social media sensation and local tourist spot. Apparently somebody didn't love it and filled in the hole with some plaster or concrete-like substance, which didn't deter rat hole fans. They just went out into the frigid cold and dug the hole back out of the ground. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
