Book of the Month: The Seeds We Planted

Wed. 3/20 11a: “The Seeds We Planted: Portraits of a Native Hawaiian Charter School” by Noelani Goodyear-Ka’opua provides a view into Indigenous urban education. The book takes us into the classrooms of Halau Ku Mana, where the task of measuring up to institutional educational standards is a reality. The book addresses critical questions about what it means to be an Indigenous charter school in the face of, as she writes, imperialism and colonialism.

Join us for a conversation with our March Book of the Month author. Goodyear-Ka’opua will talk about her work in education and how children might find purpose in a world that challenges traditional belief systems.
