Business Accelerator Helps Creative Entrepreneurs Grow And Succeed

The creative industry sector in New Mexico is a huge part of New Mexico's economy, employing even more people than construction and manufacturing combined. That's according to a 2014 study by the Bureau of Business and Economic Research.

In this segment, Megan Kamerick talks with Roxanne Blair, director of programs for Creative Startups, and Susan McAllister, executive director of The Art of Revolution, a nonprofit using art and education to inspire social change that is in the 2015 class at Creative Startups.

Creative Startups is a business accelerator that focuses on entrepreneurs in the creative economy, including artists, art collectives, designers, app developers and more.

Megan has been a journalist for 25 years and worked at business weeklies in San Antonio, New Orleans and Albuquerque. She first came to KUNM as a phone volunteer on the pledge drive in 2005. That led to volunteering on Women’s Focus, Weekend Edition and the Global Music Show. She was then hired as Morning Edition host in 2015, then the All Things Considered host in 2018. Megan was hired as News Director in 2021.
