Event Commemorates Murdered Women

A Prayer For Juárez and the West Mesa is a community art event on March 24 at 2 p.m. to remember the murdered women of Ciudad Juárez and those found on Albuquerque's West Mesa in 2009, as well as all victims of violence.

This will be the second year the event is held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in conjunction with Littleglobe. Artist Deborah Gavel says the goal is to create a portal between the dark and the light by using bowls filled with water to build a mandala. The event is open to the community. Find out more here. The event is part of Women and Creativity, a month-long celebration of women and the arts.
