Get Inspired! With The Alphabet Rockers

Sat. 12/12 9a: We’re getting inspired by the two time Grammy nominated Alphabet Rockers founders, Kaitlyn McGaw and Tommy Shepherd. Plus we hear from the kids in the Extinction Diaries about how sharks are used in cosmetics and other products. This show has excellent music, and will inspire kids of all ages to become change makers.

Alphabet Rockers make music that makes change. Known as the preeminent children’s hip hop artists to focus on social change and racial justice, they are consciousness in motion. They spark an intergenerational conversation about the world through music and dance. Partnering with thought leaders on anti-bias and child development, they create empowered, engaging concerts and activities for young children, families, and educators.

Katie Stone is the host and producer of The Children's Hour radio show and podcast. The show's goal is to bring informative, entertaining and engaging radio programming to listeners of all ages, showcasing local kids and kid-friendly organizations, while involving kids in all aspects of the production. Katie works with a crew of dedicated children who help produce the show, including writing and voicing scripts and reviews, helping choose jokes, show themes, music and guests, and assisting in all aspects of the live broadcast. Katie also reaches into the community, with regular live broadcasts from venues across New Mexico. She also partners with teachers to create radio shows for class projects, and joins with community organizations to bring kids voices to public radio. She hopes everyone listening comes away with new knowledge about the topic du jour. Katie started in radio when she was just 14 years old at WDGC-fm in Downers Grove, Illinios. Katie is the executive director of The Children's Hour, Inc, a New Mexico nonprofit dedicated to creating and distributing public radio for kids. The show is produced at the Sun Spot Solar Studio. Katie and her husband have raised four kids, and are delighted to be grandparents. They live in a handmade house on a solar powered organic farm in Albuquerque near the Rio Grande tending their orchard, gardens, chickens, children, a llama, cats, dogs, fish and thousands of bees.
