Albuquerque native Leslie McMurtry has recently earned a Ph.D in English with a specialty in radio drama from Swansea University in Wales. Hell Is for Other People is a short speculative fiction drama set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ricky Padilla and Sybil Feldman have just won a contest they saw on Facebook and have come to collect their reward from an office on Central Avenue. But what, exactly, will that reward be? Hell Is For Other People was directed by Fiona Thraille, with sound design by Steve Blizin. It was a finalist in the 2018 Audio Drama Product Podcast Script Contest. Alphabet is a dramatized reading set during the American Revolution. Widow Laodicea “Dicey” Lovell moves to the Pine Barrens of New Jersey when she marries taciturn, uncompromising Nathaniel Shy. Will impending conflicts draw them closer together or pull them apart? Alphabet won Gold Tier Status at the 2020 HEAR Now Festival. The plays are followed by an interview with Leslie and excerpts from her earlier piece, The Mesmerist, which had its premiere on KUNM’s Radio Theatre in 2010.
