Interview With Buika: A Vocalist Extraordinaire

Sat. 3/19, 3:30p: Born to Equatorial Guinean refugees in Spain, she captured the culture and flamenco music from her gypsy barrio. She sings with an unique timber of voice; in her performances she captures your soul by diving deep in the wounds, love, and courage of her songs.

Winner of several Latin Grammy Awards, and 2013 Grammy  Nominated - Best Latin Jazz Album, “La noche más larga”, Buika is touring the US featuring music from her latest album “Vivir sin miedo” (To live without fear). In this interview hosted by Cristina Baccin, she talks about her learning experience with the late Chavela Vargas, the power of music to heal and awaken survivors, and how fear can be a wise companion as much as a cage for creativity and freedom.
