We’re proud to announce that KUNM won several national awards for our 2017 coverage.
We were awarded a regional Edward R. Murrow award for our series Enduring Addiction produced by Ed Williams. The Murrow awards are a prestigious honor given out by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
KUNM also won three awards at the Public Radio News Directors Inc. annual conference in June.
Megan Kamerick took first place in several categories in the National Federation of Press Women Communications Contest including for her NPR story Schools Will Soon Have To Put In Writing If They Lunch Shame. Her episode of Let's Talk New Mexico, Bidding For Big Corporate Development, took first place in the talk show category.
We also won two awards from the Society of Professional Journalists for our collaboration with the Solutions Journalism Network and other New Mexico news outlets on the State of Change project. KUNM was an integral partner in this series of stories tackling resiliency in rural New Mexico. The awards were first place in Public Service Journalism, medium market category, and first place in Business Enterprise Journalism, medium market category.
