Lines To Vote Grow At UNM As Poll Deadline Approaches

Arianna Sena/KUNM

Lines at the University of New Mexico polling station were growing as the 7:00 p.m. cut off approached. Voters formed a line across the length of the Student Union Building Tuesday afternoon.

“My vote is my voice, and like, it’s really gonna make an impact,”said Jacob Silva. He’s a student at UNM and a first time voter. He wouldn’t say who he was voting for, but he’s interested in education.

“I am a real advocate for advancing and like improving everyone’s education, and so voting for the candidate is advocating for the advancement of education and has equal access to education.”

Silva said he used candidate websites to help him decide who to vote for, and the “I Voted” sticker would be an added bonus to his first voting experience.
