Three South Valley Storefronts Destroyed By Car Accident

A South Valley business owner got an early wake up call from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office this weekend. A car ran into three storefronts, and he says the repairs will cost thousands.

Chris Moore owns 9 Mile Tees Fast Screen Printing and has been at his current location on Bridge Boulevard for two years. He said he hasn’t had any issues with crime, so when he got a call at five in the morning from the Sheriff’s Department, he was caught off guard.

“I didn’t really know what to expect," Moore said. "I thought maybe somebody just kind of ran into the wall or you know a little accident. I didn’t think it was as bad as it looks."

The car took out the entire storefront, breaking windows, doors and security bars. Moore said if his insurance or his landlord can’t cover the $20,000 in repairs, he’ll have to move.

A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson told KUNM that the damage to the businesses was the result of a collision between a semi-truck and a car. There were no serious injuries.
