To celebrate the life and legacy of Aretha Franklin, four dynamic local singers performed on Freeform. Toni Morgan, Tracey Whitney, Abby Maxwell and 15-year-old Chloe Nixon sang the songs of Aretha. Jim Ahrend was on keyboard, and Rick Dorin on guitar.

Wed. 8/29, 1:30p: Local singers Tracey Whitney, Abby Maxwell, Toni Morgan (and perhaps a surprise guest) join Carol Boss on Freeform to perform some of their favorite Aretha Franklin songs and talk about her influence on them as well as her legacy.

Cole and so very much more.  The expected and the unexpected, those you know and those you've never heard before!  

Thurs. 4/26 1:30p. Thursday April 26th marks the opening of the 35th Annual Gathering Of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque. It is the largest event of its kind in North America, dedicated to celebrating and sharing indigenous culture. Join Afternoon Freeform host Brandon Kennedy as he welcomes local native performers into the KUNM studios for live performance and conversation. Guests include Colleen Gorman, DDAT, JJ Otero, Sunburnt Stone and Nizhoni Girls.

Fri. 4/13 1:30p: Mary B. has been doing Freeform for 35 years. That's crazy! But nothing is permanent and now she has to go. Her last show is this Friday, April 13. The music will be insanely good, there could be shenanigans, and she hopes you'll be there with her. Friday Afternoon Freeform with Mary B, this Friday for the very last time.

Mon. 2/5 2p:  Local musician, dancer, & farmer Fidel Gonzalez is accompanied by Cristian Orellana in the Studios at KUNM on Monday (2/5/18) Afternoon Free Form.  They play a few songs and chat about music and local agriculture.  Fidel founded Moktezu Mart Market a few months ago very near to UNM.  There will be a party at the market this Wednesday, Valentine's Day with music and food. Thu. 9/21 1:30p: We'll hear highlights from a recent conversation Scott Denton had with Nels Cline, bandleader, composer, improviser & lead guitarist for Wilco who appear at the Santa Fe Opera on 9-26.
