Forty-five people turned in paperwork Tuesday to run for office in a slew of local elections in Bernalillo County. Local government, education, and soil and water conservancy seats will all be on county ballots this November.

Runoff Likely In Albuquerque Mayor's Race

Of the seven candidates running in Albuquerque’s mayoral race, none are likely to have the 50 percent of the vote needed to win Tuesday’s election, according to polls.

While Tim Keller led in three different polls from the Albuquerque Journal, KOB-TV and KRQE-TV, UNM Political Science Professor Gabe Sanchez said Keller probably wouldn’t get enough votes to win on Oct. 3.

Albuquerque’s city election is around the corner on October 3, and some residents are already voting at early voting locations.

Fifteen states and D.C. let people register to vote and cast a ballot on the same day. But that’s not the case here, and for the election in Albuquerque in October, the last day you can register to vote is Tuesday, Sept. 5.
