May is Foster Child Awareness Month, and The Children's Hour spoke with kids who’ve been in foster care about what it’s like. We learned even more about foster kids with New Mexico’s Children Youth and Families Department Secretary Monique Jacboson, and author Rosemary Zibart who’s book Kit Coyote tells a story about being a foster kid from the child’s point of view.

Sat. 4/15 9a: This week on The Children's Hour, Mrs. Hawk's fifth grade class teach us about the history of their school. Just north of Old Town, Duranes Elementary is one of Albuquerque's oldest public schools. Many of these students have parents and grandparents who attended Duranes.  These kids are sure to inspire other students to learn more about their own schools.

Sat 4/8 9a:  The Children's Hour: April is the Month of the Military Child. These are kids who have a parent in the armed services and who are living overseas or away from home, or kids who live on military bases around the world. Child author Grace Anne Remey has published two books on the topic, and she's joining us in the studio along with Storm Manning and Raven Baca, military children whose mom and dads are both Marines.  We'll also learn about the brand new Museum of the American Military Family located in Tijeras, New Mexico.

We kicked off Women’s History Month with a visit from a woman making history in New Mexico, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham. Plus, we learned why we honor women’s history during the month of March.
