Some kids have a hard time getting enough to eat while school is out for winter break. Albuquerque Public Schools will offer free meals for students starting Friday.

All around the United States, students filed out of their classrooms on Wednesday, March 14, to stand for school safety. It’s been a month since the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

In New Mexico, school administrations had mixed reactions to the planned walkouts. Over the last couple of weeks, KUNM followed the students at an arts charter school in Albuquerque, as they organized with the support of school staff.

Plus, we listened to a story by Bill Harley that explored the questions: what do teachers do during the summer and do you really want to know?

With great music, a family events calendar, the KUNM Kids Birthday Club, and so much more, every Saturday at 9am. This show was recorded live at KUNM on June 11, 2016.
