The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival: Works by Thierry Lancino, Michael Hersch and Mario Lavista

Wed. 7/24 10a:  Spencer Beckwith talks with Artistic Director Marc Neikrug about several new and recent works featured in this year's Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.  On August 11, Thierry Lancino's "Falling Angels," a Festival commission, will be given its world premiere by the Orion String Quartet; pianist Garrick Ohlsson performs a new work by Michael Hersch, "Tenebrae," on August 15; and Mario Lavista's "Marsias," for oboe and eight crystal glasses, will be performed on August 6.  All concerts take place in the St. Francis Auditorium.

Spencer Beckwith reports on the arts for KUNM. For ten years, until March of 2014, Spencer was the producer and host of KUNM's "Performance New Mexico," a weekday morning arts program that included interviews with musicians, writers and performers. Spencer is a graduate of the acting program at the Juilliard School, and, before moving to New Mexico in 2002, was for many years a professional actor based in New York City.
