University Showcase, 3/15, 8a: As the turmoil continues in Venezuela, we talk with several professors at the University of New Mexico to gain some context and understanding of the crisis.

José Luis Palacios is originally from Venezuela and is a lecturer in the department of electrical and computer engineering at UNM. He’s also the former provost of Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas.

Professor William Stanley is a political scientist who directs the Latin American & Iberian Institute at UNM. His research includes how international influences shape domestic politics and institutions.

Both of them participated recently in a campus teach-in on Venezuela.
