The New Mexico Community Foundation delivered their first annual Chispa Awards last week, honoring 12 nonprofits from around the state. The awards were a complete surprise to the recipients. None of the organizations knew they had been chosen until the folks from the NMCF showed up at their door armed with a fancy plaque and a check for $7000.
