GOP Leader Suspended For Social Media Exchange

The executive director of the Bernalillo County GOP has been suspended indefinitely for making inappropriate social media comments about women testifying for a minimum wage hike.

During a Tuesday night county commission meeting, a Twitter comment from the account of Bernalillo County Republican Party Executive Director Steve Kush referred to a volunteer who was testifying as a "radical (expletive.)"

Then there was a comment from Kush's Facebook account about another woman's "nice boots." Bob Cornelius, the county party's former executive director, replied with a reference to prostitution.

County GOP Chair Frank Ruvolo says Kush has been suspended indefinitely without pay. Kush issued an apology, saying his comments were "insensitive and inappropriate."

Cornelius says he has apologized to the woman via email and on Facebook for what he called inappropriate remarks.
