Voters in Bernalillo County will see another bond question about a planned tiny home village for people experiencing homelessness on their ballots come November.
County spokesperson Cathy Lopez said the county wants to raise another $750,000 to help end homelessness in Albuquerque.
“Solutions have to be created,” she said. “People have to think, ‘What can we do with this situation that we all see around us?’”
If voters approve the bond, the money will fund a common space with bathrooms and a kitchen and room for village residents to socialize.
Voters already approved a $2 million bond for the project a couple of years ago. That’s the money that will pay for the land and the tiny homes.
The final site for the village hasn’t been announced. There are six possible locations, all on the south side of Albuquerque.
