9.10.17: Honoring Immigrant & Refugee Stories

Sep 11, 2017

Sun 9/10 7pm: After the Trump Administration announced plans to end DACA, Generation Justice is honoring the struggle and sacrifice of our nation's immigrant and refugee families. We are sharing stories of the perseverance and bravery that many of these families showed in order to build new lives in the United States. We visit Guillermo, from Chihuahua Mexico, who risks deportation so his family may reach their goals; Shafiqa, from Afghanistan, who faced violence for 20 years as a refugee of war before arriving in New Mexico; and, Janvier, from Congo, who spent most of his life in a refugee camp before coming to the United States. These stories were gathered in partnership with the City of Albuquerque's Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs.

Janvier Nsabiyuma, middle, sits with his family in their Albuquerque home.
