Recognizing And Stopping Workplace Bullying

As women -- and men -- continue to come forward with allegations of sexual harassment and assault by powerful men, there’s a related issue that hasn’t received as much attention: Bullying. The two often occur together. Workplace bullying is more common than many may realize.

In this episode, we talk with Dr. Jacqueline Hood, a professor at the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico, about how to recognize workplace bullying, how organization’s should deal with it and what to do if you’re being bullied.

Dr. Hood is a speaker and trainer who has written numerous articles about bullying in the workplace. In addition to her academic research and teaching, Dr. Hood has served as a trainer and consultant for numerous organizations, including Public Service Company of New Mexico, New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department, The Gap, Intel, Sandia National Laboratories, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, UNM Health Sciences Center, and Peterson Air Force Base.

Megan has been a journalist for 25 years and worked at business weeklies in San Antonio, New Orleans and Albuquerque. She first came to KUNM as a phone volunteer on the pledge drive in 2005. That led to volunteering on Women’s Focus, Weekend Edition and the Global Music Show. She was then hired as Morning Edition host in 2015, then the All Things Considered host in 2018. Megan was hired as News Director in 2021.
