Penderecki To the Victims of Hiroshima
Strauss Four Last Songs
Mahler Symphony No. 4

The 2025-2026 NMPhil season opens with a powerful and poignant tribute to history, featuring Krzysztof Penderecki’s To the Victims of Hiroshima. This haunting work, written in 1960, commemorates the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The evening continues with Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs, a serene yet bittersweet reflection on life and mortality. The program culminates in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, a piece that blends the grandeur of symphonic form with the innocence of childhood imagination.
