This Thursday on All That Jazz, Host Mark Weber wishes a very happy birthday to cellist and regular Thursday jazz commentator Fred Katz, with a live in-house appearance by the Cal Haines "4th Friday" Trio.
We'll celebrate cellist Fred Katz's birthday with an in-house appearance by the Cal Haines 4th Friday Trio (called that because they play every 4th Friday night at Scalo's in Nob Hill). Playing Live in the studio will be Cal on drums, Michael Glynn, double bass, and John Rangell, piano. We might even drag out the KUNM Un-prepared Piano just for fun. Mostly, John will have his own keyboard, for quality assurance, as they'll be working over some demanding Bud Powell compositions. We might even call Fred Katz to tell him we love him. (Fred is a regular commentator on the Thursday jazz show.)
