Sat. 5/18, 12p: Carol Boss talks with Santa Fe doctor Erica Elliott, M.D. about her new book, Medicine and Miracles in the High Desert. After graduating college in the early 1970's, she accepted a teaching position at a Navajo boarding school in Chinle, Arizona. As a young Anglo woman, Erica's life was forever changed living among the Dine people.
She reached across a cultural divide to learn their language and create strong personal connections with her students and their families. Years later, after completing medical school and her residency, she accepted her first job as a doctor at the under-served Cuba Health Center in New Mexico where many of the patients were Navajo.
