Harwood Art Center Presents: be(loved) by Southwest Black Arts Collective and Recall: Sculptural Myth and Memory by Lauren Dana Smith

Harwood Art Center Presents: be(loved) by Southwest Black Arts Collective and Recall: Sculptural Myth and Memory by Lauren Dana Smith

In the Hall Gallery, be(loved) by Southwest Black Arts Collective is a group exhibition that centers the experience of artists of African heritage and explores the abiding feelings, attachments, connections, and entanglements we have with individuals and families, places and spaces, and memories—real or imagined. In the Front Gallery, Recall: Sculptural Myth and Memory by Lauren Dana Smith asks, Where does the earth end and my body begin? Where does your body begin and where does it end? How can we be both? At the reception, Tumbleweed Rodeo by Sarah Aziz will debut as a site-specific installation. Tumbleweed Rodeo is a video projection project that positions the question of invasive species not as disasters but as displays of the majesty of nature and life.
