Mountain and Valley Wool Festival
Celebrating its 39th year, the annual Mountain and Valley Wool Festival will be held October 1st and 2nd at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, Santa Fe, NM.
The festival is open from 9:00-5:00 on Saturday and 9:00-4:00 on Sunday. A perfect fun, family activity; the festival is open to the public and admission is free.
Featuring a regional fiber market with over fifty juried fiber artisans, craftspeople and vendors who offer a wide variety of animal fiber and related items; including fleeces, roving, yarn and finished items from hats to footwear to rugs to wall art and fiber related tools and equipment.
The Fiber Critter Corner allows close-up looks at the animals that produce the various fibers, including llama, alpaca, sheep and angora rabbits. Demonstrations of various aspects of fiber arts including felting, dyeing and spinning will be presented throughout both days of the festival.
There are show-competitions for garments and home accessories as well as for hand-dyed and hand and millspun yarn.
The fleece show and sale is an opportunity to learn what makes an excellent fleece; then stay for a chance to purchase your favorites. Sheep shearing demonstrations are held periodically throughout both days of the festival. There is also silent auction, featuring roving, yarn, fiber arts tools, finished items and many other unique fiber related items; all proceeds benefit the Mountain and Valley Wool Festival.
Live music by regional musicians in a range of genres, will be featured throughout both days of the festival.
Food and refreshments will be available from several vendors.
