In North Carolina, African-American voters strongly supported the state's new constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman. The amendment passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday. On Wednesday, President Obama publicly endorsed same-sex marriage. Republicans Zero In On Nebraska's U.S. Senate Seat
Winning the seat from Nebraska would help Republicans gain control of the U.S. Senate. Two-term incumbent Sen. Ben Nelson, a Democrat, is retiring. Voters from both parties will select their nominees Tuesday. The Republican winner is likely to face former Democratic Sen. Bob Kerrey.
