KUNM Community Partnership

The 2024 Spring fundraiser is coming right up on March 16th, which means it’s time to harness the power of giving with the KUNM Community Partnership! This March we are once again collaborating with our local community to do some good beyond the dial, but before I give you all the good details, let’s take a moment to remember what we have achieved together through the KUNM Community Partnership thus far.

Over the last four years, we have raised 50,000 meals for Roadrunner Food Bank & The Food Depot, planted 150 trees in ABQ neighborhoods with Tree New Mexico and raised support for over 200 animals at the Stray Hearts Animal Shelter in Taos. This community effort is simply amazing, and we should all feel very proud about our accomplishments and the good we have created together!

This year for the KUNM Community Partnership, we want to highlight a nonprofit that provides services for community members who are experiencing homelessness and are seeking services. I am so excited to announce this Spring we are teaming up with Independent Vehicle Service and HopeWorks in Albuquerque - to give the Gift of Hope! Let's talk about how to give the gift of hope, then meet our partners.

Here’s how the KUNM Community Partnership works and how to give the Gift of Hope:

When you donate to KUNM at a qualifying level, our community partner Independent Vehicle Service has agreed to recognize your contribution to KUNM and will provide a separate donation – a gift of hope – to HopeWorks as part of your KUNM ‘thank you’ gift. This means 100% of your donation stays right here at KUNM to support the programming you rely on and will also provide a gift of hope that will support community members experiencing homelessness – all with a single donation to KUNM!

About our Nonprofit Partner - HopeWorks

Founded in 1985, HopeWorks is a nonprofit serving the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in New Mexico. Every year, they provide thousands of people with access to a comprehensive array of services, which include mental and behavioral health, case management, and housing services. Many community members initially engage with the HopeWorks Day Shelter, which provides basic needs such as food, clothing, mail, storage, showers, and telephone/internet services.

About our Business Partner - Independent Vehicle Service

Independent Vehicle Service is a local business in Albuquerque that provides customers with personalized attention and makes vehicle maintenance their top priority. They provide knowledgeable answers, resolve issues promptly and accurately, and communicate with customers with clarity about needed repairs. Their technicians are certified and trained and the IVS professional support staff is dedicated to providing customers with first-class service.

Your decision to take part in this year’s KUNM Community Partnerships has the potential to help over 8,500 individuals and families in need. We know you will support KUNM (because you love us) but, hope you will also consider participating in this year’s partnership and help us raise awareness for community members that are experiencing homelessness – Let's all give the gift of hope!

Now remember, this is the fifth year of the KUNM Community Partnership and I just know that this year will be as successful as the last four, because that is the magic of community supported public radio! Together we can harness the power of giving, highlight the power of community and make an impact for our community members in need. It just doesn't get any better than that!
