On Sunday, September 11, 2022, Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved as many as 100,000 Jews during World War II and then disappeared in the Soviet Union, will be honored in Santa Fe on the 110th anniversary of his birth. Wallenberg's heroism and legacy is particularly important today, in a time of increasing threats to the American Jewish community as well as other religious minorities.

The program, sponsored by Temple Beth Shalom and other local and international organizations, will include a showing of the first half of the prize-winning German documentary film, “The Case of Raoul Wallenberg – Savior and Victim,” followed by a panel discussion exploring the legacy of Wallenberg’s work. Esther Kovari, a long-time Santa Fe resident whose mother was saved by Wallenberg, will introduce the event, which will be held at CCA (Center for Contemporary Arts) and is open to the public. The film will also be available for streaming.
