Flor De Toloache: The Intoxicating Power Of Mariachi Women

Sat. 7/1, 2pm: Latin Grammy Nominee Mariachi Flor de Toloache, an all­-female Mariachi ensemble creates a unique yet familiar sound in a largely male dominant musical genre. Since 2008, they have created an intoxicating mariachi style that expands the borders of the genre. On Raíces enjoy an interview hosted by Cristina Baccin with Mireya Ramos, Shae Fiol, Eunice Aparicio and Julie Acosta.

The richness of their mestizaje -that includes Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republica, Cuba and more- thrives in the cultural cauldron of New York refreshing traditional mariachi with unexpected and infectious rhythms. In their performances, they inject the power of the toloache, the sacred plants that heal with their hallucinatory energy.
