Women's Focus, 03/16 Noon: British actress and comedian Nina Conti comes to Albuquerque this week for two shows with the Tricklock Revolutions International Theatre Festival. She has won a British Comedy Award, stormed Live at the Apollo, Russell Howard’s Good News, Sunday Night at the Palladium, and made a BAFTA nominated film. She and her most well-known puppet, Monkey, were also in the HBO series “Family Tree.”
Conti began her career as an actress at the Royal Shakespeare Company, before theatre director Ken Campbell inspired her to become a ventriloquist. In 2008 she won the prestigious Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for her solo show Complete and Utter Conti. In 2010, her show Talk to the Hand had sell-out seasons in Edinburgh, London, Melbourne, the Sydney Opera House and New York.
Conti will have two shows at Revolutions, including her solo performance "In Your Face" on March 23rd at the KiMo, and a show with Albuerque native Shenoah Allen of The Pajama Men on March 21st at the Tricklock Performance Laboratory called "Monkey and Roy."
