State Agencies Seek To Hire Hundreds From April Events

Workers smooth out asphalt.

The state is looking to hire hundreds of new employees over the next two weeks. Agencies will accept walk-in applicants at “rapid hire” events in Carlsbad, Roswell, Farmington, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces.

Highway maintenance workers, case workers and registered nurses are just a few of the employees that state departments are trying to hire at job fairs in April.

Stacy Johnston with the Department of Workforce Solutions says job-seekers should show up "dressed for success" and with at least three copies of their resume.

"When they come in, they’ll receive a flyer that goes over all the positions of the day, what we’re looking to hire for, and then we’ll schedule them a 10-20 minute interview," Johnston explained. "They’ll leave with either a contingency offer, or they’ll know within a day or two if they’ve received the job.

The jobs available range from near-minimum-wage positions that ask for a high school diploma, to those that pay $22 dollars an hour and require a college degree. Johnston says people at the “rapid hire” events can interview for multiple positions, as long as they meet the minimum requirements.

Applicants should also bring college transcripts if they have them.

All events will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
