Host Scott MacNicholl will guide you on this journey through the psychedelic cavern of KUNM's old studios in the Student Union Building basement. Showcasing the sounds of the late 1960s and early 1970s,  KUNM: Up Against the Wall FM will feature rare KUNM tape of the era and exclusive interviews with station veterans. Sat. 8/17 10p: The Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Music & Arts Festival.  We’ll play your favorites from the Woodstock movie soundtrack, plus many previously unreleased performances from the iconic Festival, and we’ll share remembrances from Woodstock attendees! The Head~Shoppe’s Cosmic Poet will drop by to read some thoughts on the Woodstock vibe! Join us for a three hour journey through the garden that brought the social, political and musical dimensions of the Sixties into focus for one long beautiful weekend!

Sat. 4/7 10p: This week on the Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe we pay tribute to the beginnings of “Underground FM” radio!  It was about 6 PM on April 7, 1967, when Tom Donahue opened the microphone at KMPX in San Francisco, and began his Free Form styled broadcast!  Although alternative radio was bubbling up nationwide, this moment is often considered ‘ground zero’ in the history of “Underground FM” radio.  We’ll have sound bites of many FM Radio legends, including Tom Donahue, B.

Sat. 11/14 10p: "The Seeds - Pushin' Too Hard," is an acclaimed rockumentary charting the incredible rise and bizarre fall of the original flower punks.  This Saturday night on the Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe we'll have a conversation with the film's director, Neil Norman and the film's producer Alec Palao.  We'll discuss the creation of the film, The Seeds, and the Los Angeles rock scene of the mid to late 1960's.  



  Sat. 9/13 10p:  Tune in for  a conversation with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.  Ian talks about his new CD release "Homo Erraticus," his upcoming tour and appearance in Albuquerque, the evolution of Jethro Tull, and working in the 21st century music industry.

Sat. 8/16, 10p: Join us to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival in 1969.   We'll feature the music of the festival along with remembrances and reflections from Woodstock attendees. Also, special guest, singer-songwriter, Woodstock performer "Melanie" will call in to share her experience at the legendary festival.  Three hours of Woodstock memories on Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe.

Sat. 8/9/ 10p: We pay tribute to the late Jerry Garcia.  It is the 19th anniversary of the untimely death of this icon in American music.  The legions of Deadheads worldwide continue to grow, as the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead continue to transcend generations.  We will feature music from the catalogs of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.  Rounding our tribute, special guest Jonathan Longcore will offer his reflections on his personal and musical relationship with Jerry Garcia.  

Sat. 6/16 10p: KUNM's Psychedelic Radio Head Shoppe and Sound Opinions mark the 45th anniversary of one of the most significant years in rock and roll. 1967 was the year that the recording studio as an instrument changed the way music is created; that the album as a united concept changed the way it is heard; that the festival experience remade the way music is celebrated live. Pop music became big business.

Sat. 11/5 10p: The Strolling Scones will make a visit to the Psychedelic Radio Head~Shoppe.  Rick Stockton & Helen Highwater, will drop by to discuss their upcoming new release, an EP, entitled "Something Happening In The Air,"  their upcoming tour dates, and the evolution of the band.
