Film night at Fourteenfifteen Gallery

Film night at Fourteenfifteen Gallery

An evening of new video works by visiting filmmakers.
Places in Pieces, vol. 4, by Jason Pappariella, picks up where the series left off in 2011, as a non-narrative, regionally-focused document. This installment makes its way across Eastern and Central Europe, moth-tracking from the Baltics to the Balkans, and fluttering about the Caucasus region. Specters inhabit this contemporary landscape, as the familiarity of the common place is rendered invisible, ghostly, in the context of the motions of daily life. With a curiosity for the ordinary, Places in Pieces gives attention to the discarded, and to the observation of quiet, contemplative moments. The film score, by Adam Parks (Lighting White Bison), is similarly composed of field recordings, found material and incidental improvisations, and is performed as a live accompaniment to the film on manipulated 4-track recorder. Previous volumes of the series have been exhibited and screened at venues such as Artists' Television Access (San Francisco), Echo Park Film Center (Los Angeles), Talking Dolls Studio (Detroit), and Tacheles (Berlin). The film has a running time of 56 minutes.

Plus, short video works by Kait O'Brien! Kait is an artist who seeks to explore the ways in which our subconscious touches the landscapes we inhabit through animation, experimental photography, poetry, encaustic, installation and music composition. Kait is visiting back in town this winter from Massachusetts.
