For Valentine’s Day, Cinema con Corazón!

Feb 9, 2014

Mon. 9 Feb. 7:00p:: Join host Adam Aguirre and guests Justin Remer-Thamert, Program Director of the New Mexico Faith Coalition for Immigrant Justice, and Gabriela Vera, a volunteer at the Coalition and Coordinator at Familia Corazón, to discuss the Coalition’s presentation of the New Mexico debut of “The Second Cooler” (La segunda nevera), a documentary film by Ellin Jimmerson.

The film asks who benefits from failures of US trade and immigration policies that themselves look almost designed to exploit and displace,  how and why, and most importantly, at what cost, and to whom.

The "Second Cooler" is presented  on Valentine’s Day at 4:00 pm and at 6:15 pm (Guild Cinema, 3405 Central NE, Albuquerque, NM). Director E. Jimmerson, also a Baptist minister, will be at the event for a panel question-and-answer session following the film.

On Saturday Feb. 15th, at 1pm, the movie will be screened at St. Pius High School’s Performance Center (5301 St Josephs Dr NW, Albuquerque, NM) in the hope that those trabajadores y trabajadoras who wouldn’t normally make it out to the movies or venture out to Nob Hill on Valentine’s Day will cross those boundaries and take the ones they love to see this important and award-winning film.
