Genízaros: Slavery In New Mexico

Mon. 2/5, 7p: We´ll speak with UNM Associate Professor Michael Trujillo about New Mexican's history of slavery and the story of Salvador, a genízaro man from Chimayó, the main character of Gilberto Benito Córdova´s novel, "Big dreams and dark secrets in Chimayó". Racial boundaries and New Mexico´s long fraught struggle with identity will be topics for today´s conversation, hosted by Cristina Baccin. Dr. Michael Trujillo is the author of the UNM Press book "Land of Disenchantment: Latina/o identities and transformations in Northern New Mexico".
