University Showcase, Friday 6/21 8a: How can health care professionals work with communities as partners to improve health care outcomes? On this episode we talk with Dr. Laura Chanchien Parajon about community based participatory research.
She is the executive director of the Office of Community Health and assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNM. She and her husband David are also the co-founders of AMOS Health and Hope. It’s a Christian non-profit organization that works to improve the health of impoverished communities by working alongside them in health, education and development.

Dr. Parajon recently gave a presentation at the UNM Summer Institute in Community Based Participatory Research for Health about using this model of healthcare in Nicaragua.
