SF County Clerk: Mail Ballots In Tech Funding Election By This Thursday
Santa Fe residents are voting on whether to renew funding for computer and technology access for schools. The special mail-in election ends next Tuesday, March 5.
The Santa Fe school district uses the money from the Educational Technology Note for learning devices, training for teachers and technology support. This year’s election is to decide whether to continue an existing tax and would not increase taxes for residents.
Dr. Veronica Garcia is the Superintendent of Santa Fe Public Schools.
“If we lose this money, it will mean that we will not be able to refresh our computers," said Garcia. "We will not have the software or connectivity that we need.”
The funding is essential for kids’ development in a digital world Garcia said. And she sounded confident that the measure would pass.
The Santa Fe County Clerk’s office recommends mailing the ballot by this Thursday, February 28. The office must receive the ballot no later than 7 P.M. Tuesday, March 5.
