Let's Talk New Mexico: Black Lives Matter And Policing In ABQ

Hannah Colton / KUNM
Black Lives Matter demonstrators marched through UNM campus in the rain on Monday evening, June 1, 2020.

Police violence takes many forms, and some communities in Albuquerque experience it much more than others. On Let's Talk New Mexico this week, we'll hear about how law enforcement has responded to Black Lives Matter protests over the last week in Albuquerque. How do you see police operating in your community? What needs to happen to end racist police violence in New Mexico? Join the conversation by emailing letstalk@kunm.org, or call in live at 277-5866.

Special thanks to Khalil Ekulona, who conducted some of these interviews for the June 3 episode of Your N.M. Government, a collaboration between KUNM, New Mexico PBS and the Santa Fe Reporter.

Support for KUNM’s public health coverage comes from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and from listeners like you.

Hannah served as news director at KUNM and reported on education, Albuquerque politics, and anything public health-related. She died in November 2020.
