Annual Artist in Residence Exhibition featuring Marie Alarcón
Albuquerque, NM / Harwood Art Center is pleased to present Papi León and Friends by 2026 Artist in Residence, Marie Alarcón. For Papi León and Friends, Artist in Residence Marie Alarcón worked with local artists, through a series of community workshops on the construction of “diasporic deities.”These deities act as placeholders for the diasporic and their lost links to ancestors. The work in this show reflects the process of creating space for these deities in their various forms. Alarcón’s deity, Papi León, is part pirate, part cannibal, and part zombie, an artifact of the three nationalities in Alarcon’s Filipino, Puerto Rican, and Haitian ancestry. Viewers can also watch Alarcón’s Apocalypso, a film made between New Mexico and Puerto Rico.

We invite you to join us for an Exhibition Reception & Artist Talk at Harwood on Saturday, October 17 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.

‍New Mexico Tech Week (NMTW for short) is a first-of-its-kind, statewide celebration of technology, innovation, and community. From grassroots meetups to the flagship conference, this is a full week of connection, learning, and building the future of tech in the Land of Enchantment. All NMTW events are independently-organized, local events curated for the New Mexican tech scene.

Performed by Socorro Community Theater, this DnD fantasy-filled play will have you deep in your feels!

With fun preshow activities-- costume contest, resource fair and more--you will feel like you're a part of this exciting quest!

She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen follows Agnes Evans, an average highschool teacher who loses her yougner sister, Tilly, in a car crash.

Hoping to understand her estranged sister, Agnes plays a Dungeons & Dragons module written by Tilly, entering a fantasy world of magic, monsters, and grief.

Libros of Enchantment: The 2026 SouthWest Writers Book Fiesta is a first-ever book fair from SouthWest Writers uniting readers and authors. Readers may meet local authors, buy their books, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how a book comes to life. Authors may meet readers and other authors, sell their books, and learn more about their craft. The keynote speaker is local author and Tony Hillerman biographer James McGrath Morris. Panel discussions featuring other local authors will look at the genres of science fiction/fantasy, romance, crime/true crime, paranormal/horror, poetry, and memoir/biography.
Author tables in the bookstore are still available, as are sponsorship and supporter opportunities. Current sponsors are Silverleaf Farm & Farm Stand in Corrales, freelance artist Rebeccah Swanson, The Music of Creation by Paul J. Knight and Chris Allen, and the Author’s Guild.
SWW is a 40-plus year-old regional nonprofit organization for published and aspiring authors and has more than 400 members from across New Mexico and the southwest.
