Celebrate renowned sculptor and painter Bill Barrett, the Rotary Club of Santa Fe’s 2026 Distinguished Artist of the Year and a 2026 recipient of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts for Sculpture.

The Rotary Club of Santa Fe Foundation will honor Barrett with a special evening at the Santa Fe Country Club featuring a cocktail reception, dinner, presentation of the Distinguished Artist of the Year Award, and a screening of the new short film Bill Barrett: Art That Moves.

Bill and Debora Barrett have donated two original works for the celebration. FABLE XIV will be awarded through the 2026 Distinguished Artist of the Year raffle, and LYRA SERIES 5 will be offered by live auction during the dinner.

The evening will also support the next generation of New Mexico artists. The Rotary Club of Santa Fe Foundation will present $10,000 to New Mexico School for the Arts, combining $5,000 contributed by Bill and Debora Barrett from Bill’s Distinguished Artist of the Year award with $5,000 from the Foundation.

Established by the Rotary Club of Santa Fe in 1981, Distinguished Artist of the Year has honored artists whose work has made a lasting contribution to the cultural life of Santa Fe, New Mexico and beyond.

General Admission is $150; tables of eight are $1,000. Reservations are required by September 27.

The Invertebrats follows O as he struggles to find himself after his mother's death. Living and sleeping in his bathtub, O begins having vivid dreams about a nightclub full of bugs, including a DJ Cicada, a sexy Cockroach, a lazy Bee, and a pop diva moth who looks suspiciously like his late mother.

Written by Eric Craft and directed by Ken Prestininzi. Presented by UNM Theatre and Dance as part of the Linnell Festival of New Plays.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC), this exhibition highlights the Center’s history through Pueblo imagery and perspectives of the past, present, and future. A combination of fifty objects from the IPCC’s Collections and Archives, with an emphasis on Pueblo pottery, illustrates the significance of the Center as a gathering place where Pueblo arts and culture are celebrated by visitors from around the world and, at once, nurtured by Pueblo communities across the generations. Gallery videos, updated throughout the year, will feature interviews with Pueblo artists, scholars, and culture bearers that present insider views of the IPCC. Join us to celebrate the exhibition on March 21 from 5-8pm during our free, public reception. Organized by the School for Advanced Research (SAR) and the Vilcek Foundation, Grounded in Clay: The Spirit of Pueblo Pottery, a unique traveling exhibition featuring over 100 historic and contemporary works in clay, offers a visionary understanding of Pueblo pots as vessels that carry community-based knowledge and personal experience. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC), established by the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico in 1976, welcomes the pottery vessels back to the Southwest as the “returning home” host venue of the exhibition’s four-year national tour. Curated by the Pueblo Pottery Collective, Grounded in Clay opens at the IPCC as the leading program of the Center’s 50th anniversary celebration year. The exhibition and its associated events are generously supported by the First Nations Development Institute and Noon Whistle Fund.

On the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026, experience “The Old Road”—a mural that at once remembers the first major highway traversing the United States and gives emphasis to its impact on Pueblo communities and New Mexico. Through the eyes of artists Warren Montoya (Pueblos of Santa Ana/Santa Clara), Margarita Paz-Pedro (Pueblo of Laguna/Mexican American), Akilah Martinez (Diné), and Keith Scott (Pueblo of Laguna), this multi-dimensional installation travels through time showing Pueblo people and places along the “Mother Road,” otherwise known as Route 66. Explore the eccentric narrative created by these artists as they look at multiple roads simultaneously, from ancestral times to recent history, to glimpses of the present and future. Already a historic exchange route within Indigenous communities, Route 66 still echoes in the personality and culture of New Mexico byways. Journey through this mural located in the Art Through Struggle Gallery at the end of the IPCC’s permanent exhibition.
