Pursuit of Happiness: Gi Bill in Taos refocuses the story of post-World War II artistic movements by highlighting those artists working, communing, and connecting in Taos from 1945 onward. These artists founded the next great wave of abstraction that took root in the region, bringing their vast creativity and international connections to the community. Highlighting works from Harwood Museum of Art’s permanent collection and sourcing significant loans regionally and nationally, this exhibition tells the story of how Taos contributed to conversations and explorations in the national art scene during the post-World War II period.

Reception for Socorro County Women's Art Showcase

All are invited to attend a free Artists Reception at Macey Center Gallery Friday, March 5th, from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by the hilarious musical "Disenchanted," the untold stories of the Disney Princesses (tickets sold separately on nmt.edu/pas). Artists are welcome to invite their friends and family members to join the public in meeting the artists and learning more about their artwork. Appetizer and drink specials (cash bar) will be available at the reception.

Textiles, paintings, drawings, photography and more will be on display during March for a month-long art show featuring the talents of Socorro County women artists. The fifth annual showcase, sponsored by Macey Center and the New Mexico Tech Performing Arts Series, will be held on the second floor of Macey Center every day of March during the facility’s operating hours in honor of Women's History month.

Women of Socorro County have been invited to exhibit up to two pieces of art during the show, which is open to all mediums, including textiles, oil paintings, jewelry, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, photography and pottery. Participation in the exhibit is free.

Poisoned apples. Glass slippers. Who needs ’em?! Not Snow White and her posse of disenchanted princesses in the hilarious hit musical that’s anything but Grimm. Forget the princesses you think you know – the original storybook heroines have come to life to set the record straight.

Preceding this performance is the reception for Macey Center and PAS's annual presentation of the Socorro County Women's Art Showcase, a month-long exhibition featuring newly emerging to nationally recognized local artists.

In 2012, 'Disenchanted!' had its first Off-Broadway reading at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Playwrights Horizons in NYC. The songs from the show were also featured in a showcase at Don't Tell Mama Cabaret Theatre on Restaurant Row that summer.​

'DIS!' - as the show is affectionately known for short - opened in a limited-engagement run Off-Broadway in NYC at the Theatre @ St. Clement's in December of 2014 and then transferred to an open-ended run at the Westside Theatre in 2015. The show played to rave reviews and positive press from the Huffington Post, New York Times, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, New York Post, BroadwayBlog, New York Observer!

The Off-Broadway production of 'DIS!' played to sold out houses, rave reviews, and several NYC award nominations including 'Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical' (Outer Critics Circle Awards), 'Best New Off-Broadway Musical' (Off Broadway Alliance Awards), and two Lucille Lortel Awards nominations ('Best Lead Actress' and 'Best Featured Actress'). 'DIS!' also received a nod from Playbill, making the list of 'Best of the Year - 2014' as well as an American Theatre Wing Henry Hewes Design Award nomination for 'Best Costumes.'

Arrowsoul Art Collective’s mural installation fuses concepts of the beginning, present, and future of Indigenous pictographic arts. Based in the Southwest region, Arrowsoul Art Collective creates graffiti walls and mural paintings inspired by the evolving meanings of “Future Old School” and “Indigenous Freeways.” The artists create new visions of the Southwest landscape through blending letter structures, illustrative architecture, and textured palettes of places of home. Arrowsoul Art Collective’s projects reunite communities along the Rio Grande through creative participation. Located in the Art Through Struggle Gallery, their newest mural will be on display through June 28, 2026.
