With Election Day next week and early voting underway, voters in Congressional District 3 will decide whether to elect incumbent Democrat Teresa Leger Fernandez, or challenger Republican Alexis Martinez Johnson.New Mexico in Focus Correspondent Gwyneth Doland with our media partner New Mexico PBS sat down with Martinez Johnson to talk about the newly redrawn district, climate change and her thoughts on abortion in the state.

With election day less than a week away, there is still time for early voting for individuals who find themselves busy with their work or their families. This Saturday, November 5 will be the last day to vote early before election day on Tuesday, November 8.

Early voting is underway and in Congressional District 3 there is a rematch of sorts. Incumbent Democratic Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez faces Republican challenger Alexis Martinez Johnson, an environmental engineer who ran against her for the same seat in 2020.

Early voting begins October 11 and voters will choose who will represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives. In District 1 Republican challenger Michelle Garcia Holmes and independent write-in candidate Victoria Gonzales are running against Democratic incumbent Melanie Stansbury.
