Birthdays
Sat. 9/17 9a: This time on The Children’s Hour, the Kids Crew does a deep dive to learn about birthday traditions from around the world. Here in the United States, many kids can expect a birthday cake, candles, presents, and maybe even a party. But in some regions, like where The Children’s Hour is in the Southwest, we have even more to add to a birthday celebration.
Barbara Lee: speaking truth to power
Carol Boss speaks with documentary filmmaker, Abby Ginzberg, whose film tells the complex story of beloved California congresswoman Barbara Lee, a steadfast voice for human rights, peace and economic and racial justice.
The Universe
Sat. 5/28 9a: This time on The Children's Hour, we go far out into space with Dr. Katie Mack, author of the book The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking). Astro Katie is a theoretical astrophysicist whose current focus is on the timeline of the universe, from its birth through its death, billions of years from now. Dr. Mack explains the shape of the universe, and its composition. We explore black holes, and learn if the notion of an ever expanding universe still holds true. We have a lot of questions for Dr. Mack, and the show is mixed with an excellent "universal" soundtrack. Get spaced out with us!

The final negotiations among legislators left the price tag for the bill at $1.2 trillion, about half of which will make its way to states over the next several years to improve drinking water distribution systems, rebuild roads and bridges, and modernize travel with updated airports and a system of electric vehicle charging stations.
